For sampling swabs we all know more commonly used is oral swabs and nasal swabs, today we talk about how oral swabs are preserved?

There are two methods of preservation with preservation solution and air-drying preservation preservation.

Preservation solution preservation.

1, remove the sealing paper of the disposable sampling swab bag, and gently remove the disposable sampling swab from the bag.

Note: The wipe head of the one-time collection, please do not touch anything other than the inner wall of the mouth to avoid contamination.

2, sampling swab into the side of the mouth, in the inner mucosa from inside to outside, and then move up and down 15-20 times, can increase the number of times according to the actual situation, the strength is moderate, close to the inner mucosa of the mouth more appropriate, disposable sampling swab each oral mucosa shedding cells

3, after the collection, please take out a sampling swab from the oral cavity, put it into the sampling tube, break a sampling swab, put the sampling swab head into the preservation tube and tighten it for preservation.

Note: High speed will lead to dilution and loss of samples. After sampling, prevent the primary sampling swab from touching other objects.

Note: Pharyngeal swabs preserved in cell preservation solution can be stored at room temperature for one month, so please send them to the laboratory for examination as soon as possible.

Air-drying preservation method.

1、Prepare a clean white paper

2. Remove the 1st swab (do not touch the head of the swab), enter the mouth and make 20 round trips near the inside of the left cheek (occasionally rotate the swab), to fully touch the oral mucosa. Remove the swab and place it on white paper to dry naturally for 2~3 hours

3, take the second swab, 20 times round-trip on the inner side of the right side of the mouth, placed on the same white paper and dried naturally for 2~3 hours.

4、Take the 3rd swab and wipe it 15 times to each side of the left and right side, place it on the same white paper, and again let it dry naturally. Repeat the collection of 6 roots.

5、Mark it and wrap it in white paper and put it into an envelope.

6、Please send it by express mail as soon as possible. Also, please do not use plastic bags for packaging. Only use paper material for packaging.

Note: Generally, naturally dried oral swabs can only be stored for 3 days, so try to send them on the day of sampling.
