1. Pre-sampling preparation: Give the sampling tube to the patient, let the patient hold the tube, inform the patient of the possible discomfort during sampling, and also inform the patient that the tube needs to be held vertically, so that the patient can concentrate on the tube, which can focus the patient's attention on the tube to reduce the discomfort caused by nasopharyngeal irritation during the sampling process.
2. Sampling position: take a sitting or semi-sitting position, with the patient's head slightly tilted, mouth wide open, and the head resting against the wall or against the back of the chair fixed.
3. Standardize the sampling operation: press the patient's tongue with a tongue depressor and ask to make a long "ah-" sound. Pharyngeal swab in the patient's bilateral pharyngeal tonsil area for "up, down three back and forth fast wipe" and in the posterior pharyngeal wall for "left, right three back and forth fast wipe", avoid contact with the tongue, teeth, gums. In case of discomfort, take a break and try again.
Precautions: Drinking water before the oropharyngeal swab test will dilute the virus attached to the pharynx, especially drinking hot water will also inhibit the activity of the virus, in order to improve the accuracy of the pharyngeal swab nucleic acid test, 15-30 minutes before the test, patients are advised not to drink water to ensure that the pharyngeal swab nucleic acid test has high accuracy. Patients with good pharyngeal exposure are not advised to send a long "ah-" to reduce the risk of occupational exposure to the sampler.
