Common swabs for specimen collection and usage

1, polyester, polyester or rayon head, the handle is plastic or aluminum swab: suitable for virological test specimen collection. Virology test specimens should not be used for the collection of the handle for the wooden swab.

 

2, cotton swabs: suitable for mycoplasma test vaginal, cervical and urethral specimens collection, should not be used for bacteria (especially caustic bacteria), chlamydia test specimens collection.

 

 

 

3, polyester swabs and nylon swabs: suitable for sampling of viral and bacterial specimens.

 

4, flocked swab: made of nylon fiber by proprietary spray technology, suitable for sampling respiratory viruses and fungal culture specimens.

 

5, calcium alginate swab: suitable for the collection of nasopharyngeal swabs of Chlamydia and Bordetella pertussis. However, it is not suitable for sampling of lipid-enveloped viruses and cell cultures, and is not suitable for sampling of Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Ureaplasma urealyticum.
