We all know that the normal human oral cavity contains a large number of multiple species of bacteria.
The normal flora of the part plays a role in maintaining the normal health and normal function of the host. However, some bacteria in the normal flora can also cause disease when the general resistance and local immunity of the host is low. In order to investigate the distribution of oral flora in patients with oral diseases, we performed routine bacterial identification on several oral swabs taken from patients with oral diseases.
Identification methods.
1 Apply sterile oral swabs to the gingiva and palate of patients with oral disease, and immediately separate the specimens on blood plate and MacConkey plate at 37℃ for 18~24dx, then observe the morphology of colonies, pigmentation, hemolysis, properties of catabolic sugars, and Gram staining
2 for the isolated gram-positive cocci, gram-negative bacilli for specific enzyme test and specific biochemical reactions.
3 Identification of Gram-positive bacilli and Gram-negative cocci according to the characteristics of the species. The identification of fungi is mainly based on staining morphology, colony characteristics and budding rosettes, etc.
Role: The number and species of conditionally pathogenic bacteria isolated from oral swabs differ in distribution in different age groups. Among them, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter terreus were all isolated from the age of 50 years or older. This indicates that the possibility of secondary infection increases in patients with increasing age, because when the body's non-specific immune function is weakened, certain flora will proliferate and the protective flora will be relatively reduced in step.
This leads to an imbalance between the flora, which in turn causes infection. Therefore, the dental clinic should pay more attention to the control of dysbiosis and secondary infection in middle-aged and elderly patients.
