(iii) To prevent vomiting, avoid eating two hours before collecting pharyngeal swab specimens.

 

(iv) Do not smoke, drink alcohol, or chew gum half an hour before sample collection.

 

 

⑤. It is best not to use antibacterial drug therapy before sampling pharyngeal swabs.

 

Sampling steps for pharyngeal swabs.

 

①, ask the patient to sit down, tilt the head back and open the mouth wide

 

②, remove the disposable sampling swab and fix the patient's tongue with the tongue depressor;

 

③, use the sampling swab to cross the tongue root to the posterior pharyngeal wall and the lateral wall of the tonsillar crypt;

 

④、Repeatedly wipe 3~5 times to collect mucosal cells;

 

⑤、Gently remove the swab to avoid touching the tongue, uvula, oral mucosa and saliva;

 

⑥、Put the swab into the virus sampling tube, break and discard the end of the swab at the swab break, and tighten the tube cap;

 

⑦, put the sample into a biosafety bag and send it for timely examination.
