U-head saliva genetic test sampling process

The most convenient sampling for genetic testing is saliva, followed by blood. Currently, the more popular ones are tested by collecting saliva samples, which are more convenient and free to collect compared to blood, and are more acceptable to users. Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew a range of foods such as gum for 30-40 minutes prior to taking the saliva sample.

Do not remove the plastic film from the funnel lid. Relax your cheeks and gently rub for 30 seconds to produce saliva before spitting.

Saliva DNA sample collection tube Collection method.

1. Gently spit the saliva secreted in the mouth into the oval collection port of the saliva collector. Care should be taken to avoid excessive air bubbles when collecting saliva.

2. Collect saliva until the stratified interface between the saliva in the collection tube and the upper layer of air bubbles reaches the scale line shown in 2 ml.

DNA saliva collection steps:

(1) 30-40 minutes before collecting the saliva sample, please wash the debris in the mouth with drinking water.

(2) Enrich saliva by lowering the tongue to the root of the upper or lower jaw teeth and gently spitting saliva into the collection funnel until the liquid saliva (not air bubbles) reaches the height of the 2 ml gram line.

3. Snap the lid of the collector with preserved liquid onto the oval collection port evenly, a slight clanging sound when snapping down, while the preserved liquid flows into the collection tube evenly, indicates that the lid has been snapped, otherwise, you need to open the lid of the collector gently and snap it on evenly again until the preserved liquid flows into the collection tube evenly.

(1) Hold the saliva collection tube so that it is in an upright position. And use the other hand to assist in unscrewing the red tube cap of the saliva preserving solution.

(2) Slowly pour the saliva solution into the collection funnel, keeping it upright so that the saliva solution can flow completely into the collection tube.

(3) Keep the collection tube in an upright position and carefully unscrew the collection tube from the collection funnel.

(4) Gently shake the saliva collector to make the preserved liquid flow into the collection tube more completely.

5. Confirm that the stratified interface between the liquid in the collection tube and the upper foam layer reaches the scale shown in 4 ml.

(1) Tighten the collection tube with the small red cap of the saliva collection tube.

(2) Invert the collection tube up and down 5-6 times. Make the saliva mix well with the saliva preservation solution and discard the used collection funnel and saliva preservation tube.

6. Confirm that the collection is completed without errors.

Caution:

First of all, DNA is extracted from the exfoliated cells contained in the saliva, not from the saliva itself. Therefore, when collecting saliva samples, you should scrape your upper and lower jaws as many times as possible with your tongue, and also scrape your tongue slightly with your teeth to ensure the number of exfoliated cells.

Make sure that you have not eaten, drunk, smoked, etc. in the past 30 minutes that affect the success rate of sampling. It is recommended to sample first thing in the morning to ensure the success rate of sampling.

Please make sure that you do not rinse your mouth with mouthwash before sampling, and it is not recommended to rinse your mouth before sampling.
