What is DNA flocking swab?

DNA flocked swab top is nylon fiber structure, it is through the electrostatic field to attach nylon fiber to the surface of medical ABS plastic rod in sequence according to the direction, forming a brush-shaped layer, its layers are fully parallel to each other and perpendicular to the surface of the internal rod, through this brush head for DNA collection. At present, Brilliance Technology flocked swab has obtained the EUA of USA and the export right in many countries.

What are the advantages of flocked swab for DNA collection?

Sample collection process: The unique structure of the flocked swab tip can greatly increase the number of samples collected.

Sample elution process: The brush-shaped layer structure releases nearly all of the collected sample.

Why are flocked swabs better for micro DNA collection?

Traditional cotton swabs have a twisted internal structure at the tip of the swab, making the sample scattered and trapped in the fibers during sampling, resulting in less efficient DNA extraction and even false negative results.

The unique structure of the tip of the flocked swab allows for almost complete extraction and analysis of very small amounts of DNA, so the flocked swab has a more obvious advantage in the collection of small amounts of DNA.

What is the principle of DNA collection and extraction by flocked swabs?

(1) Cell samples can be completely captured by the directional wiping effect of the brush-shaped fiber layer.

(2) Since the cell samples are concentrated on the near surface of the brush-shaped fibers, about 95% or more of the samples can be released eventually.

(3) The capillary movement between the nylon fibers at the tip of the flocked swab creates strong hydraulic pressure for absorbing liquid or cell-based samples.

DNA flocking swab use method.

(1) first open the swab package, carefully remove the swab, pay attention not to touch anything before sampling to avoid contamination

(2) Stick the swab into the area to be sampled to stay, rotate or wipe the way to sample

(3) remove the swab gently, usually by putting the swab into the virus sampling tube, fracture at the break and discard the end of the swab, tighten the lid and send it for testing as soon as possible.
