Nowadays, oral DNA collection is one of the more common methods, the collection process is convenient and fast, the collection effect is stable and reliable, and it is widely applicable to the population. But many people do not understand what is the routine method of oral sampling swab for DNA collection?

Oral swab collection methods are as follows.

Step 1: Rinse your mouth

Note: Do not eat, smoke, drink alcohol, etc. within 30 minutes before collection.

1. Prepare a glass of water (about 150ml), hold the water in your mouth, rinse your mouth fully for about 10 seconds and spit it out;

2. Repeat the above steps 2-3 times.

Step 2: Take the swab

Tear open the outer package of the oral swab and carefully remove the oral swab. (Note that hands should not touch the head of the swab during the whole collection process)

Step 3: Scrape the swab

Hold the handle of the swab, stick the swab into the mouth, make the head of the swab fully contact the left side of the inner wall of the mouth, rub up and down with appropriate strength, while rotating the swab 10-20 turns, so that the head of the swab fully contact the oral mucosa; in the same way, collect the inner wall of the mouth on the right side.

Step 4: Drying

Place the swab stained with oral exfoliated cells in a clean and ventilated place for 10-20 minutes until air-dried. (Please make sure to dry them when the air is humid in hot weather to prevent mildew)

Step 5: Tube loading

Put the dried oral swab back into the collection tube and fill in your name on the tube label; repeat the above steps for the next swab. (The full set of susceptibility needs to collect 4 swabs, other testing items need to collect 2 swabs)

Step 6: Write the registration form

Please read carefully and fill out the "Genetic Testing Registration Form", fill in "name", "gender", "test item "Name", "gender", "test item", etc., and sign at the bottom left corner of "applicant".

Step 7: Apply the barcode

Attach the barcode in triplicate to the collection tube (either one), the "genetic test submission form" and the "sealed bag". (Make sure the barcode is consistent in triplicate.)

Step 8: Send the test

Place the processed "collection tube" and "genetic test submission form" back into the "sealed bag" and arrange for the relevant testing as soon as possible (within one week).
